Carl Spackler V: A new champ arises
The Carl Spackler Invitational V was played on May 25 with 17 taking part looking to capture the illustrious plaid jacket. Ben Warhurst is the new champion and has been sighted wearing the jacket to cafe's and restaurants in Lane Cove soaking up every bit of notoriety that it brings with it. For all the details and scores click here or go to the results section and navigate to May 08!

Spackler Cup announced
Our version of the FedEx Cup, called the Spackler Cup, will be introduced this year. It will be an accumulation of your points over the year. This year there’ll be four events with your best three rounds included as your points total. It gives you the benefit of dropping out your worst score and doesn’t penalize players who didn’t get the chance to play all four events.

Plaid Jacket goes Greenjacket

The official results are in and the Plaid Jacket has a new owner!!

See here for full report and scores.

So it is, Michael Green is the new champ and deservedly so with 41 points and a round of 78, well done and lets bring on the next round. Take note of all scores as we are going to have an aggregate champion at the end of the year (FedEx Cup style), so we plan to play four rounds, with your best three stableford rounds being totaled up to find our champ!

Also in the near future you’ll receive the dates for the rest of the Spackler Inv. for the year, with and eye on a night away as our last round, with the first days play for the Jacket as normal and the second days play a team event.

Thanks everyone for coming out and to all you who missed out…..we didn’t miss you!

Carl Spackler Invitational IV this Sunday!
The Carl Spackler Golf Club organisers are proud to announce the fourth Carl Spackler Invitational is being played this Sunday at Riverside Oaks. As this goes to print we have 15 players in the field with full odds list below:

Defending Champ
Aaron (22) $12, form not good but history says the once you’ve won you can back up!
The Pretenders
Mudge (23) $16, unknown whether the shake up at rugby hq will affect him
Ben (28), $7.50, has been hard at it and on his day will rack up big points
Greeny (11) $5, is desperate to show his real self, but will the pressure of a first win and lowest handicap in the field be to much?
Chris B (26) $13, outside chance here, bit of a smokey as no one knows what he’s been up to since the last round
Deano (28) $10, wasted opportunity last time out, if he fails to be a force this time, the monkey may be on his back for a while!
Johan (20) $13, came in last time with a great score, but handicap has come in accordingly, chance
Rudi (15) $8, tells me he should be off 16, but in his only outing he was much better then that, real chance here
Thomas (28) $25, coming off no golf and a long flight from Europe, not today
Merce (18) $4.5 comes in the favourite only because of generous handicap, think he may have deliberately tanked the early rounds to give himself a chance!
Timo (28) $30 can’t really comment as never seen him run, but am assured he is relatively new to this game
Nathan David (28) $28 hasn’t played since……..? but has new clubs!
Chris H (28) $26 had his first game back last week, but is not confident this time out, waiting on some serious swing adjustments before backing himself in
Duncan (23) $19 can hit a hockey ball and cricket ball well and off the tee uses this well, but may struggle in this class!!
James (9), $11.50 short considering the amount of strokes he’s giving away to most of us, but he’s snuck a few practice rounds in, so you never know!

Groupings:

Group 1 Ben (28) Chris (26) Mudge (23)
Group 2 Greeny (11) Duncan (23) Deano (28) Johan (20)
Group 3 Aaron (22) James (9) Rudi (16) Thomas (28)
Group 4 Chris Mercer (16) Timo (28) Nathan (28) Chris H (28)
